Grandview Public School (New Hamburg)
In 2024-25, Grandview had 230 students for 179 permanent places (128% full). The board first raised an addition for this area in 2021, and it hasn't been built.
Nothing is scheduled for Grandview that we know of. to hear when it comes up.
How full is it?
Ward median 97%
One of 14 ward schools over 100% in 2024-25. Tied for #4 of 29 by how full it is.
Enrolment is the Ministry’s October 31 headcount; permanent places are the board’s on-the-ground capacity. Portables aren’t counted as permanent places.
Students and educators
Ward median 23 (elementary schools)
All 9 classes, including split grades, counted by the Ministry in September 2025. Kindergarten classes: 27.0 on average. Grade 1 to 3 classes with no older students: 20.0 on average.
We don't calculate students per teacher here: the school's website names no more teachers than the school has classes, so the list is incomplete.[4] The list also names 1 educational assistant and 1 early childhood educator.
A staff page is a directory of names, not full-time equivalents: part-time teachers count as one each, and staff based at other schools aren’t listed. Not every school lists its support staff. The board doesn’t publish staffing by school.
Last rebuild or addition
Ward median: built 1974
Last addition on record: office and staffroom addition, 2000.
- 1949Original building: gym and six classrooms (opened September 1950)
- 1963Four-classroom addition
- 2000Office and staffroom addition
- 2000Done
The school opened in September 1950 with a gym and six classrooms. A four-classroom addition followed in 1963, and an office and staffroom addition in 2000.[5] - 2021Raised, not built
An addition at Forest Glen or Grandview was first identified in the 2020-2030 plan (2021) and was not sent to the Ministry in any round from 2019 to 2024-25. Every year from 2021-22 to 2024-25, staff screened it as “premature”, with a boundary study or review recommended first. The board still listed it as a potential partnership project in September 2026.[6][7][2][8][9][10]
New homes in its attendance area
The Township of Wilmot doesn’t publish its building permits as open data, so we can’t count new homes inside each Wilmot school’s area the way we do for Waterloo. Township-wide, the Region of Waterloo counted 29 new homes permitted in Wilmot in 2025 and 36 in 2024[11].
Building condition
Ward median 27%
Under the board's 65% “poor” line.[12] The index is five years of needed repairs divided by what it would cost to replace the building. Higher is worse. The red mark is the board’s 65% “poor” line.
